Thank you for your interest in Ridishia Rhodesian Ridgebacks.
I've been breeding and showing Ridgebacks since 1993. It truly is my passion.
Our focus is health and temperament, PLUS proper structure.
We want to leave the breed in a better state then when we found it.
Structure is important, even if you are not going to show your dog.
If the body is put together in a way where bone angles are better aligned, this means less discomfort/pain as your pet ages. This leads to more runs on the beach, more hiking, and a Ridgie who is better able to hop up onto your couch LOL!
Lower vet bills are also a pleasant by -product.
We are planning to have a litter late 2023, and spring 2024.
It usually takes me at least a year to find just the right stud dog for my bitches.
Once the sires are officially lined up, I’ll provide information on them as well.
We do not have a ‘kennel’. The puppies are born in our home, and raised underfoot.
They become a part of our family, before they go to yours.
We breed only because we want a new dog to show or to breed to continue our line. We cannot keep them all, and this is the only reason we have puppies available. My husband and I both have careers, this is not how we make a living! As a result, you will see we do not charge taxes on our dogs.
We are proud of the health testing we do: hips/elbows/eyes/cardiac/thyroid/degenerative myelopathy/deafness.
A breeder MUST check for Degenerative Myelopathy. This is a crippling spinal disease. And deafness, there is deafness in our breed and for other breeders to say “I don’t test for it because there is none in my line” is ridiculous. Both these tests are a simple cheek swab, and you should avoid a breeder who just does the very basic hips and elbows Xrays….that is not sufficient.

If you are interested in one of our puppies please submit the form below and we will try to match you up with the perfect pup.
We have a very active socialization protocol, and neurological development program. It’s called Early Neurological Stimulation and Puppy Culture protocol. It is a series of stimulations designed to evoke a small stress reaction in the puppy. These are shown to produce puppies with much better coping skills as they move through life, and more neurological connections within the brain.
Simply petting and weighing the puppies does not have the same effect.
This is also the perfect time to explain how puppies get picked. By the time the babies are 8 weeks of age, my husband and I will have spent many, many hours with them, and know their personalities intimately. When the puppies are around 6 weeks of age, we have a ‘puppy party’ where you will meet the family. We will choose a puppy for you, based upon your experience with dogs and lifestyle. Pups will be picked around the 8 week mark. Please trust in our years of experience and knowledge to place the best suited puppy with you.
A serious, responsible breeder would not allow you to walk in and choose between 10 puppies. We are not an SPCA. Years of research/work have gone into planning these breedings.
It is our goal to ensure this experience of buying/owning a ridgeback is positive and pleasant. A huge part of that is making sure you have the right dog, from the right breeder!
If you live within reasonable proximity, I do ask that you come for a visit at some point, to see the excellent temperaments and shiny coats for yourself. Naturally, I want to see how the dogs (and we) feel about you as well ☺
Our waiting list tends to fill quickly, and it is not uncommon to wait 6 months to a year for a puppy.
IMPORTANT: We highly encourage you to speak to and visit different breeders.
Please know, we will be here for you, the entire life of the dog. We brought them into this world, and we feel an immense responsibility towards them.
